SP-Teri Skates Info

SP-Teri has been the boot of choice for skaters all over the world.  Joseph Spiteri started making sp-teri boots in 1963.  From then on, sp-teri has been known for its high quality and commitment to service.  Bill Fauver has taken over SP-Teri.  He was an Olympic skater and coach.  He is committed to continuing the quality and service that Spteri has been known for.  Skater's like Michelle Kwan have skated in Sp-teri boots.  if you are a beginner skater, the Sp-teri escalade is the boot of choice, the sp-teri silver medalist is great for those learning beginning jumps.  Are you doing single and double jumps?  Then the Gold Medalist or the pro-teri might be the boot for you.  The Sp-teri super teri is great for those doing double jumps and double axel.  The Sp-Teri zero gravity is a great choice if you want a light weight, yet highly supportive figure skating boot. The Sp-Teri KT3 is great for triple and quad jumps.  If you are doing triple jumps you might want to consider the spteri kt2.

Not sure what skate you need?  Check out our Choice Guide for SP-Teri Skates below.  This guide will help you narrow your choice down to the SP-Teri figure skate that will be best for you based on your skill level.   The lower level boots will be less stiff which means they will have less support.  The higher your skill level, the stiffer (more supportive) the boot will be.  The stiffness ratings vary a little with each brand.  If you would like the full comparison guide that includes all brands as well as other country's skating levels, Click on our Skate Brand Comparison Guide.

SP-Teri was founded by Joseph Spiteri when he started making hand lasted boots in 1963.  His philosophy was that outstanding fitting skating boots are not created accidentally.  His goal was to make the best fitting skating boots in the industry.  Sp-Teri did become well known for it's quality and outstanding fit.

The SP-Teri last allows the skater’s foot to lay flat in the boot for maximum comfort and control.  Since 1963, the last has been modified three times to keep step with the evolution of the human foot.  The SP-Teri last is designed with a rounded toe box. It allows the foot to get close to the end of the boots without squeezing the second, third and fourth toes.  The arch of SP-Teri boots has been redesigned to accommodate the lower arches of today’s skaters. This is especially important for younger skaters whose feet are still developing.  SP-Teri boot’s heel pitch allows the skater to balance at the center of the blade. A boot with a high heel shifts the skater’s weight to the toe picks, and a low heel throws the weight back. Center balance on the blade gives the skater ideal body position for shifting weight.
The heel in the SP-Teri boots is designed narrow to hold the foot more securely. And the back curve holds the heel in a snug position for jumping control.

Even though Sp-Teri boots are made with lightweight material it is still with traditional leathers and soles for those who prefer traditional materials over the newer plastics and composites.  SP-Teri also makes a variety of lengths and widths for all levels of skaters.

SP-Teri has now moved to Nashville, TN to continue the tradition of creating high quality boots.  George Spiteri will serve as an advisor and Bill Fauver as President.  As an Olympic skater and coach, Bill understands the needs of competitive skaters and is committed to continuing the legacy of quality for which SP-Teri is known.
